Time to make the donuts

So in case many of you see I’m subscribing to your blogs again, it’s because WP woke up one morning, poured itself a cup of coffee, sat down on the sofa with its iPad and said, “Hey, this would be a good day to unsuscribe Stacey from all the bloggers she follows! Yeah! Boo-yah!”

So I’ve been in the process of re-upping my associations.

I thought it was something I did until I found out it’s happened to at least one other person too.  🙂

    • Well, it wasn’t REAL bad. The blogs were all still listed. I just had to turn them on. Now, if everything disappeared, names included…that would have been REAL bad! 🙂

  1. Okay, so it’s a “thing”. Gotcha. It SAYS I’m still subscribed in my list of blogs, but if I haven’t seen anything from folks in a while…then obviously something’s up. Yay!

  2. Welcome back Stacey. I was wondering why you subscribed to my shitblog although you were already subscribed since long. Totally weird thing, but probably good to, that WP doesn’t inform us when ppl unsubscribe.

  3. Muchas gracias!
I know. I’m baffled. I’m sure it’ll happen again, too, one day. When the posts stop appearing….I know something terrible has happened in the deep, dark night of the computer…………….. 🙂

    • We’re not in the clear yet, Houston. The “Follow” button keeps appearing … and there’s a strange banging noise coming from outside the module – unfortunately it appears to come from the one part of the outside not covered by the CCTV. Hello Houston? Houston, hello? … and all that came back was… “A going back to Houston, Houston; A going back to Houston, Houston…” with accompanying harmonica … Dean Martin, alive and well in deep space and still crooning, how about that huh?

  4. PS: Also, evidently, just going into settings and changing something from “immediately” to “daily” sends an announcement out to the world that you’ve JUST SUBSCRIBED TO THAT BLOG when, in fact, you were already suscribed and just adjusting settings. Really? Must my every breath be monitored and the rushed to the 5:00 news when I groan instead of sigh? There must be a button somewhere to click that says “do not make public” or something and I’m just missing it. Can’t find it yet, tho………………………..

    • There is a privacy setting, I’ve seen it many times, but I’d be careful with that: it is supposed to render your blog invisible to all except those lucky few you decide to “invite in” to view your masterpieces a la Facebook. WordPress has finally decided that my choice to follow your blog is acceptable, either that or there’s a rebellious algorythmic AI on WP that likes the likes of you ‘n me… We should be so lucky!

  5. Ooh….there’s a thought, ala Sally FIelds: “The rebellious algorithmic AI on WP likes me! It really, really likes me!”

  6. Now a new thing. I’m in someone’s blog. It says I’m following the blog. Good. Check.
But then when I go to leave a comment it’s saying “comments closed.”
    I feel like I took crazy pills, lol ! ! !

    • I think WP is going through middle age crisis. I discovered that if I click on “REPLY” I get some error message so I go back to the email and I click on the blog post title instead and that usually gets me to the right place with all the proper stuff. Many of my “Following” (bottom right corner) are now working. Like their impossible “block” editing idea, they’re not about to admit things aren’t working as they should.

Now if you want my conspiracy theory, all this is happening because Google is attempting to force-take over WordPress and it could be that Matt Mullenburg is not having it, or wants a heap more dough and the tweaking is to make the buyout more smoothly attractive to Google or to discourage the predator. So there’s a war going on of which we are supposed to remain benignly ignorant! Unless of course WP already belongs to Google in every aspect but the name in which case I’ll have to revise my theory. A spate of truly bad coffee times at the office? 🙂

  7. Truly, TRULY bad coffee times. Which makes me want to ride on the coattails of your theory: What if Starbucks owns both Google AND WP? Because they’re really the power behind all things……aren’t they? It would explain a lot! Lol

  8. Ha! This exact thing happened to me recently and I do not understand why. It seems that I was not disconnected from everyone I follwed but I can’t work out whether it was those I had followed via clicking inside the W Reader or from within the individual sites! Gahh

  9. It’s a mystery we shall never crack, probably. It’s the Sphinx of the electronic world, lol.
    But thank you for re-following! 🙂 🙂 🙂
